Forthcoming Fresh Flix

Hello good peoples of the blogosphere. I'm new to this world so this page will not look very flashy to begin with. I'm pretty busy these days with school/research so I'll probably only blog from time to time until I get settled in to my new life. I figured I should put something up just for the hell of it until I figure out how to really work this thing.

The blogs on this page will probably be scattered just like my brain. If ya dig fresh tunes of all types (especially those that stimulate the senses), good flicks, reflections on science ranging from the brain to the cosmos and everything in between, and really just general observations of life and human behavior, then you will hopefully find at least some of the shit I rant about on here interesting. I should be sleeping right now so I'll leave it at that.

Be on the lookout for these films.

The Wackness- winner of a bunch of Sundance awards. Not your average cliche urban hip-hop infused film by any means. A bit more depth to this, which is expected since Ben Kingsley is playing a lead role. "I got mad love for ya shorty. Like, I wanna listen to Boyz II Men when I'm with you". Hahahhaaa. I'm sold off the trailer.

Burn After Reading: This is the new Coen Brothers film that is the follow up to the virtually flawless No Country For Old Men so you know it's gonna be strong. And the cast couldn't get any bigger. Coen brothers ALWAYS deliver and if you didn't pay much attention to them until now go out and rent The Big Lebowski immediately and pound some white russians while watching. Extra props for using the Elbow single "Grounds For Divorce" from their new album in this trailer. Big expectations for this.

: Now I've been following the progress of this film for the last 3 years. This movie will probably make cinematic history as being the most psychologically invasive film of all time. In a way that has much more depth than the normal 'fucked up/depressing' film like a Todd Solondz flick (Happiness, Palindromes, Welcome to the Dollhouse, etc.), for example. Not that those are bad but this is on a whole new level. You can count on much more depth from who I believe to be the most intellectually stimulating screenwriter of all time, Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine, Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, etc.). Maybe too much depth even. If you are a fan of his films you know that each time you watch one over a new concept unravels. This is gonna be pretty heavy shit from what I've read so far. With Philip Seymour Hoffman as the lead and one of the most unique cast of females I've ever seen brought together. I'm not sure if any of our brains our even ready for this.

Your normal commercial movie go-ers will probably just say something like "it's toooo weiiiird!!!". Well, YO! REALITY SHOW WATCHERS, NOTHING CAN BE TOO WEIRD (!!!!), as long as it's done tastefully. And one must realize, life IS that weird at times. To me there is nothing stranger than the weirdness that is life.

This will be Kaufman's directorial debut. We'll see if he can live up to his normal directors which have been Spike Jonze and Michel Gondry. Hard shoes to fill but I have full confidence, and so should you. Kaufman has always played a very active role in working with the directors and the fact that he had the taste to choose those directors, who were mainly only known for music videos at the time, shows he knows what's up. I gotta write more on this movie later because I don't have the time to do Kaufman's hyper-analytical mind justice here.

No official trailer but here is a snippet that was shown at Cannes film festival recently.

Stay tuned for more random bloggage on everything fresh under the sun. Actually, I should say everything fresh that spans the multiverse. Peaaaaaaaaaaaceee!
